Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your interest and question. I started bootstrapping the
port and found a few dpkg bugs [3][4]. I had to realize that I will
find a huge amount of bugs during bootstrapping and I also need a
proper infrastructure because only somewhat established ports will be
accepted as official ports.

Since later we also started the freeze for Jessie this was not a good
time to flood BTS with patches nor carrying a lot of fixes I suspended
the work on the port till Jessie is released. I was also busy with
other projects and unfortunately I can't dedicate time to the port
before May. There is a related GSoC project [5] which aims rebuilding
Debian with ASAN helping the creation of the port by finding some of
the blocker bugs.

I still believe that creating a port would be the best way of
providing additional protection for Debian users and I also think that
security-focused Debian derivatives like Whonix would also profit a
lot from this port. In May I plan checking if I can set up the needed
infrastructure and find some funding for dedicating a serious amount
of time to make the port happen.

Cheers,
Balint
