What information do I need?

To successfully configure the printer wirelessly, you must begin with a computer that is connected to the wireless network where you want to install the printer.

Network information

You will need the network SSID (also called the Network Name or Service Set ID).

Security information

Different wireless networks require different security information. While not recommended, some wireless networks are not secure and have no security information. Select None or No Security if your network is not secure.

If your wireless network is secure, then here are some of the settings that may be needed:

Information you will need during advanced setup (select models only)

During advanced wireless setup, the Wireless Setup Utility does not detect the wireless network SSID for you. You must know the following information before configuring the wireless printer settings manually:

Wireless Mode

Infrastructure is selected by default and cannot be changed.

Note: Infrastructure is used for networks that use access points or wireless routers.

Network Name (SSID)

This is the identifying name that distinguishes a network from other networks in the area.

Channel

Auto is selected by default and cannot be changed
