The Bioconductor Project uses the R statistical programming language. Bioconductor releases are therefore closely tied to a particular version of R. Packages contributed to CRAN can be used as dependencies in Bioconductor packages and vice versa.

NumFocus is a fiscal sponsor of Bioconductor.
Bioconductor uses Amazon Web Services for a variety of infrastructure.
Bioconductor uses Microsoft Azure for hosting key pieces of Bioconductor project infrastructure.
Bioconductor and Galaxy are meeting quartly to try to increase the collaboration between the two projects. Bioconductor workshop infrastructure is modeled after the Galaxy infrastructure.
Bioconductor is available for use within the AnVIL project. Bioconductor/R is directly available through Bioconductor docker images available on Terra. Bioconductor makes use of binary package generation to allow quick installation of any Bioconductor package and has provided numerous workflows for data analysis.
In August 2022, Bioconductor joined The Carpentries as a member. For more details, check out our blog post: https://blog.bioconductor.org/posts/2022-07-12-carpentries-membership/. Also, we have a dedicated #carpentries channel on the Bioconductor Slack for related discussions.
Bioconductor has participated in outreachy as a way of providing internships to underrepresented community members.Explore articles written by our interns at blog.bioconductor.org for insights into their projects and experiences. For those interested in our internship opportunities, the Bioconductor Slack’s #outreachy channel is a public forum where prospective interns can join during specific times of the year for information and discussions.
The Bioconductor Support Site is built off the biostars code base. We have appreciated support and assistance it maintaining the Bioconductor Support Site from various biostars associates.
Bioconductor is collaborating with the Center for Scientific Collaboration and Community Engagement (CSCCE) to enhance our community engagement strategies. Our Bioconductor Community Manager is currently pursuing the Community Manager Certification through CSCCE. For more insights into our partnership and the initiatives underway, take a look at the Bioconductor profile we’ve created with CSCCE, available at Zenodo.
Bioconductor members in Europe often participate in ELIXIR activities. Our Bioconductor Slack features a #elixir channel for this collaboration. The Bioconductor Community Manager also serves as the ELIXIR Ireland Training Coordinator and is involved in integrating Bioconductor training materials into the TeSS training repository.
